SAMSUNG ULSAN NITUS PROPOSAL – Continuous Level

  • The Basic Assumption for PR301 is that we are Measuring continuous level of a fluid whose SG is 0.6 and the SG is constant in the vertical direction.
  • The medium on top of the PX, HAc, TA, WATER is air or Gas.
  • The Customer will allow us to cut the insulation (12 X 14 inch Cut out)  to install the source head.
  • The Customer will allow to weld studs on the vessel to mount the source head and the detector.
  • 120-220 VAC power supply will be available at the detector.
  • The customer will allow proper calibration to allow proper functioning of the detector
  • Three 6000 Series Source Head with a CS 137 Source of 100 mCi and three IP 2010 4 ft detector will be needed to do the monitor the continuous level in this case.
  • The total span of 3115 mm will be divided equally into three vertical regions and each region will be covered by one source head  and one detector.

Compton Backscatter Effect

According to Compton, the radiation is scattered has a frequency smaller than the radiation coming, and also depends on the scattering angle.

From the analysis of Compton scattering of electromagnetic radiation of a particle is an elastic collision.

  • Dissolving tank water level control (Styrene)
  • Asphalt level control

Why Choose the Nitus Gamma Backscatter System?

  • New patented technology for non-contacting measurement of density, level or simplified vessel profiling
  • Measurement of one side of vessel so vessel OD does not matter

- No internal vessel modifications

- Installation and start-up without process shutdown

  • Small source (isotopes used)

- Typical 1-in wall uses <50 mCi; meets China and India radiation specifications

  • High precision

- Density is ±0.001 g/cc and level is ±0.5% of span

- Sensitivity of 1mm per cm³

- Radiation penetration in vessel wall of 13g/cm²

  • Detector is 316 stainless steel

- Sizes 30.48 cm to 3.63 m; detectors can be cascaded for continuous level

  • Fireproof source head: entire source head is made of Tungsten (no lead); highest ANSI rating of 600ºC

- Rotary shutter with visible off and on tested to over 1 million cycles

Nitus Gamma Backscatter System: Key Facts

  • Precise measurement on pipes 24-in or greater
  • Dynamic range of 1.5 m for level per source head
  • Steel walls up to at least 2.0-in / 5.08-cm
  • Can offer both density and level using same source head
  • IP2010 detector can be used for gamma transmission  and is equitable in pricing when gamma transmission sources require greater than a 2 Ci Cs source
